Demolition, basement excavation and utility trenching in Salt Lake City, from Sugar House and the east bench to new builds across the valley.

Salt Lake City is full of older homes on established lots, and a lot of the work here starts with something coming out: a house torn down for a rebuild, a garage removed, or an old slab broken up and hauled. Ritz Excavation & Demolition handles the teardown, the hauling and the new basement dig, so one company takes the lot from old house to new foundation.
We also dig for builders and developers on infill and new construction across the city, with our own trucks to haul spoils off tight urban lots.
Much of our demolition work is on the east side of the valley, including Holladay, Millcreek and Cottonwood Heights, where older ranch homes are being replaced with new ones. If you're on the east bench or anywhere in Salt Lake County, we can take a look.
What we plan for before the first bucket goes in the ground here.
Many neighborhoods were built before 1980, so teardowns and rebuilds are common.
Little room to stage equipment or stockpile dirt, so we haul as we go.
Old Lake Bonneville clays in the valley can hold water and pump under equipment.
Utility work at the street often means permits to dig in the road.
The jobs we see most often in this area.
About 50 minutes from our home base in Heber City. Much of our demolition work is on Salt Lake's east side.
“They brought in and graded the dirt for our new driveway… In total, they screened and hauled away 13 truckloads of rock… Jeff and his crew were incredibly hardworking. They were knowledgeable, efficient, and took pride in doing the job right.”

Do you do house demolition in Salt Lake City?
Yes. We tear down homes, garages and outbuildings in Salt Lake City and across the east side, haul the debris, and leave the lot ready for the new basement dig.
How deep do footings have to be in Salt Lake City?
Salt Lake City's building department uses a 30-inch frost depth for footing design. Your plans and the city's plan review set the final depth for your house.
Can you fix drainage on a Salt Lake City lot?
Yes. Valley clay soils hold water, so we regrade lots and install French drains to carry water away from foundations and basement walls.
What's required before a teardown in Salt Lake County?
Expect an asbestos inspection by a Utah-certified inspector, a demolition notification to the Utah Division of Air Quality at least 10 working days ahead, utility shutoffs and a city demolition permit.
